Davinci Virtual Puts Telecom Muscle to Work

In a move to demonstrate its corporate citizenship, Davinci Virtual is partnering with the Autism Trust to support the charity’s national campaign this month.

Davinci Virtual will put its virtual office resources to bear to provide telecommunications services for a campaign that calls on the British government to offer more help to families affected by Autism.

Davinci is taking a page out of the community relations book to generate awareness of its
services there. This is a smart move. Earlier this year, Davinci launched its virtual office package to businesses in the UK. The company has set up headquarters in Hammersmith, London.

“We are delighted to support The Autism Trust on this initiative as not only do we believe in the cause, but we strongly believe our platform is one of the only of its kind in the UK that could be fully provisioned, configured to their requirements and available within minutes,” says Steve Golding, general manager of Davinci Virtual UK.

Understanding Autism’s Impact
Autism is a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first three years of life and is the result of a neurological disorder that affects the normal functioning of the brain, impacting development in the areas of social interaction and communication skills. Both children and adults with autism typically show difficulties in verbal and non-verbal communication, social interactions, and leisure or play activities.

Autism is one of five disorders that falls under the umbrella of Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDD), a category of neurological disorders characterized by “severe and pervasive impairment in several areas of development.” Autism knows no racial, ethnic, or social boundaries; family income levels; lifestyle choices; or educational levels, and can affect any family and any child.

Autism is the most common of the Pervasive Developmental Disorders, affecting an estimated 1 in 150 births, according to Centers for Disease Control Prevention. Roughly translated, this means as many as 1.5 million Americans today are believed to have some form of autism. And this number is on the rise in other parts of the world.

Supporting Families, Not Just Businesses
The Autism Trust has been inundated with thousands of calls as billboards were mounted across the UK bearing a note from Polly Tommey, the mother of a 12-year-old autistic boy named Billy, addressing the prime minister for increased help and awareness.

In a pro bono agreement, Davinci Virtual will provide its Automated Attendant virtual receptionist solution to The Autism Trust to meet their need for 24 hour phone support, and to ensure that all calls are handled immediately and routed based on their requirements.

“We have a first class global telecoms platform that has been designed on a scalable architecture,” Golding says. “Based on the anticipated call volumes, our platform has ample capacity to deal with the load expected.”

You are right. This is a really smart move from Davinci Virtual. What better way to introduce the masses to your new services in a country than to include community service into the marketing mix. Autism is a major concern around the world, and this cause should definitely generate some awareness of the brand and show that this virtual office provider has a good heart.

You kind of wonder how this deal came about. Was the Autism Trust looking for a virtual office provider or did Davinci Virtual offer up its services pro bono to several up and coming charity events to see which one needed help? How these sorts of deals get architected is fascinating. Good move on Davinci Virtual’s part.

Thanks also to abetteroffice.com for including some context about autism in this article about Davinci Virtual. In your way, you are also helping to raise awareness of this disorder. Congratulations to Davinci on its entry into the virtual office space in London and for being a good corporate citizen.

Thanks to Davinci Virtual for lending a hand, or as it were, an ear to this great cause. I don’t see enough of this sort of thing in the serviced office or virtual office industry. In this economy, when donations to charity are down, it would seem growing industries executive office suites should be giving back to the communities they serve and the causes they believe in.

I agree. The executive offices suites industry should be giving back more. There is a coalition of office space providers in New York City that is offering free office space. That’s a great — but extreme — example and I wouldn’t expect most serviced office providers to do that. But the ones that are growing should be doing something.

Does anyone have any other examples of serviced offices giving back, other than maybe Avanta in the United Kingdom and the group of companies in New York under the Coalition of Office Space Providers? Is Regus doing anything? What about Metro Offices? How about Premier Business Centers? Just curious. This would be a missed opportunity to show good will in hard times.
