Servcorp Battles Regus in Tokyo with New Serviced Office Location

Let the international battle of the serviced office operators continue – in Tokyo. There’s been plenty of talk about Servcorp’s international moves lately, including company plans to open 50 locations worldwide and 10 in the United States over the next 12 months.

There’s no specifics on the U.S. cities yet, but Servcorp did just open the doors to its 14th location in Tokyo on March 1. Servcorp chose to launch its latest serviced office project in the city’s Shinjuku skyscraper district. By way of comparison, Regus has 12 locations in Tokyo, and no executive suites in the new building Servcorp chose for its latest project. Servcorp settled in the Nittochi Nishi-Shinjuku building.

“We’re proud to announce Servcorp’s fantastic new location Nittochi Nishi-Shinjuku Building. This building has a striking blue-glass façade, complimented with magnificent views of Shinjuku City from our level eight floor,” says Olga Vlietstra, general manager of Servcorp’s Japan operations. “It’s the perfect location to establish your corporate presence. Servcorp is now in all the prime areas of Tokyo, giving our clients wider options to base their business large or small.”

According to Emporis.com, Shinjuku has been an important district for hundreds of years. It’s strategically located on the main walking road to Osaka, Koshukaido and has more recently become known as the main station for the Yamanote train loop that surrounds Tokyo. The Shinjuku skyscraper district was the Tokyo’s first major skyscraper.

Servcorp said the new office space in the Nittochi Nishi-Shinjuku building gives businesses that deal with the Tokyo government a prime position because the area is home to both the administration center for the government and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. The commercial hub also puts clients within walking distance to Shinjuku’s largest shopping malls.

You are painting a picture of Regus and Servcorp going head to head. Servcorp certainly does seem to be on a fast path expansion-wise. But so is Regus. I am not sure that these two serviced office companies are striving as hard against each other, though, as they are against the general economies. Both companies are probably looking to ink long-term office space leases on the cheap before the market rebounds.

I agree with @Bill to some extent. But I also think that Regus and Servcorp are heated rivals, especially in other parts of the world. I don’t think Regus is thrilled that Servcorp is clearly making moves to open more serviced office space in the United States. Servcorp has been around longer than Regus, I believe, and could be trying to make a comeback in markets where Regus is strong. We’ll have to wait and see how it pans out this year. Regus just keeps growing anyway.

Servcorp, Regus, as well as all other virtual office services have been, and are still at the present time, used by scammers carry out illegal operations such as “boiler room” operations.
Companies offering virtual office services do not check if their clients are licensed companies or not, giving scammers a unique opportunity to carry out their criminal operations.

There is so much wrong with the comment from John Smith above. Yes, I am certain that there are scammers that use virtual office services, but I know that the vast majority of virtual office clients at executive suites are legitimate companies operating a real business.
