Office Space News

CHICAGO-It’s been a while since Regus opened a new executive office suites facility stateside. This time around, the business center behemoth chose the Chicago suburb of Skokie.
Located at 5250 Old Orchard Road, the Skokie office space aims to tap into what Regus sees as a high-growth market. The Old Orchard Road business center is Regus’ first foray into Skokie, but the company is certainly no stranger to Chicagoland. Regus has a market dominating 22 executive office suites in the region.
“Market conditions in greater Chicago are quite favorable for our business right now as inquiries are surging,” says Jeff Doughman, vice president for the Central Region of Regus. “According to our study, confidence is returning to Chicago and businesses are expecting more flexibility from their work environment so they can take advantage of new opportunities. We needed a presence in Skokie to satisfy rising demand for our services.”
What’s so attractive about Skokie? There are a few factors worth noting. Skokie is only 16 miles from Downtown Chicago. That means companies there have direct access to suppliers and business opportunities. Windy City business meetings are a breeze. Skokie is home to a diverse manufacturing base, as well as professional services and financial firms. Skokie also boasts an experienced and highly skilled labor pool, universities, and cultural attractions.
In Regus’ Business Confidence Index, which polled 17,000 companies worldwide, 42 percent of Chicago companies reported a rise in revenue. This uptick in profits has empowered businesses to increase their business spend as well, according to the report. Regus seems sold on Illinois overall, with locations in 14 cities across the state and more promised this year.
I did a quick search on Google for executive office suites in Skokie and didn’t find any firms there competing with Regus. There are serviced office space offerings in other surrounding Chicago suburbs, like Northbrook, but Regus might be the only business center game in the Village of Skokie, at least for now.
