Regus Opens New Serviced Office Space in Des Moines
Published May 8th, 2009 by Jennifer LeClaire
We’ve been writing a lot about Regus this week, but there’s a good reason for that: Regus is making move after move in an executive office suites industry that’s getting plenty of attention in a down economy.
The latest news has The Regus Group opening its first fully-furnished and equipped executive office suites facility in Des Moines, Iowa. If you are in the area and want to take a tour of this serviced office space, Regus’ newest business center is located in the Promenade Plaza North building at West Glen Town Center at 5550 Wild Rose Lane. Regus officially held the grand opening Thursday. There are least two competitors in the Des Moines and West Des Moines area.
“Companies struggling with the cost of office space as well as changing space requirements can now turn to Regus for help,” says Jeff Doughman, Midwest Region vice president for Regus. “Our recession-busting solutions enable our clients – which range from individuals and start-ups to large corporations – to eliminate upfront the capital expenditures related to technology, furnishing and staffing an office while reducing on-going facilities expenses by up to 60 percent. At the same time, our flexible agreements dramatically reduce business risk.”
According to Regus, the net result is companies can establish an office quickly and more affordably, boost their financial health by reinvesting the savings, and scale their offices up or down as needs dictate. There’s no denying the cost savings associated with executive office suites. But Regus does a good job quantifying the savings. Beyond the 60 percent figure the company throws around, Regus estimates companies can also reduce travel costs by up to 75 percent by using its videoconferencing studios. Regus offers videoconferencing rooms by the hour to facilitate face-to-face meetings.
For companies with mobile employees seeking additional savings, Regus’ businessworld program gives members on-demand access to business-ready offices, meeting rooms and lounges for less than $25 per month. Whether a member is seeking a place to work locally, across the U.S. or internationally, this program allows companies to put people on the ground wherever and whenever business opportunities arise.
Finally, for entrepreneurs and small businesses that need a physical presence in prime locations such as West Glen Town Center, Regus’ virtual office service provides a prestigious business address, meeting rooms, mail-handling services and access to private office and professional meeting space for a low monthly fee. Regus is offering the total office package at its latest facility.
“The sophisticated, main street environment of West Glen Town Center is ideal for individuals that want to work closer to where they live while ensuring easy access to anywhere in the Des Moines metropolitan area,” Doughman says. “In addition to its great location, West Glen offers one of the best environments in which to do business in the city. We’re extremely pleased to be a part of the rapid growth that West Des Moines is experiencing. Helping businesses cost-effectively establish a presence in a highly sought-after address like West Glen Town Center is something we take a great deal of pride in.”

I bet those competitors have to see Regus coming into the local market. Regus serviced offices are really a cut above a lot of the independent brands, unless they really specialize in technology or some other angle. It’s also interesting that Des Moines has room for three executive office suites players.

The population of Des Moines is a little over 40,000. So from a population perspective, there’s definitely room for more than three serviced office providers. It’s a matter of how their office market is doing and how much awareness there is of the executive office suites industry. Regus will definitely bring more awareness.

Regus seems to be firing on all cylinders. The fact that this serviced office giant had so much news coming out this week speaks volumes, really. Regus is dominating headlines in the executive office suites industry lately because it’s moving fast and furious to execute on its growth plan. Congrats!

I notice Regus is keeping the pressure on this businessworld membership. I wonder what the big attraction is there? I mean, at one level, I guess it’s incremental revenue for Regus and they can get it whether or not folks travel from one serviced office space to another. I guess it also communicates value. But it’s just interesting to see how hard they are pushing it.

I think the term recession-busting solutions is sort of silly. I agree that serviced offices provide maximum value as far as office spaces go. Executive office suites can provide some relief, but the play on the recession with terms like that is getting old. This time last year, the message was surrounding a booming economy. Boom or bust, I think sticking with the fundamentals of the benefits is timeless.
