Regus Opens New Serviced Office Facility in St. Charles

Just weeks after opening yet another flexible office facility in the Atlanta market, The Regus Group has ventured into President Barack Obama’s old backyard.

The Regus Group on Tuesday announced a new first fully-furnished and equipped business center in the Chicago area. This is the first new serviced office project Regus has opened in the region since the national economic downturn.

By opening a new facility in Chicagoland, Regus is responding what it has pegged as a growing demand for cost-effective places to work with flexible terms that align with the way business gets done today.

The executive office project is located in The Plaza building on the Fox River. The new business center is Regus’ first in St. Charles and its 29th in the Chicago suburban area. Regus was already the leading executive office suite brand in the U.S., but its timely move into St. Charles further solidifies the company’s market leadership in the Midwest.

Serviced Office Space in Chicagoland
There are other serviced office facilities near St. Charles. Specifically, you can a few scattered in nearby cities like Aurora, Warrenville and Naperville. So why did Regus choose St. Charles? Jeff Doughman, regional vice president for Regus, called St. Charles a thriving community that offers easy access to business opportunities in the Chicago area.

Located just 35 miles west of Chicago, St. Charles continues to attract entrepreneurs and businesses that want access to the Chicago market without a lengthy commute. A prosperous community with a strong economic base, the city is currently revitalizing the downtown area with significant new retail, office and residential space.

“Regus provides the right solution for any company requiring a business presence here. Since one type of office does not fit all, we provide a full range of workplace products — from a virtual office that establishes a local presence, to day offices and meeting rooms, to full time offices,” Doughman says. “Perhaps most important, our clients are experiencing up to a 60 percent savings on their facilities costs over leasing traditional office space.”

The Cost Equation
Regus touted this cost savings in a marketing message it sent last week. Now, it’s offering more clarity on additional ways companies can save money by tapping into the efficiencies of serviced offices. For example, Regus notes that the cost savings products also include videoconferencing studios that are available by the hour to facilitate face-to-face meetings while reducing travel costs. Regus reports a 40 percent increase in videoconference bookings and estimates that meeting via videoconference cuts the average cost of business travel by 75 percent.

In addition to cost-cutting, Doughman says smart companies will seek new market opportunities to help them counteract the recession’s impact. “Many businesses are tapping new markets to expand their offerings in order to grow,” he explains. “Regus’ business-ready space in St. Charles allows our clients to grow in a secure, cost-effective and accelerated fashion.”

When travel is required, Regus’ Businessworld membership program provides another method for companies to save money and explore new market opportunities. Whether a company is seeking to grow its business in Chicago, across the U.S. or internationally, Regus is convinced that its membership program provides convenient access to business-ready offices, meeting rooms and lounges for less than $25 per month. (ABetterOffice.com took a closer look at the value of Regus’ BusinessWorld membership in an earlier post.)

The Regus Group is the leading provider of workplace solutions, with products and services ranging from fully equipped offices to professional meeting rooms, business lounges and the largest network of videoconferencing studios.

Clients such as Google, GlaxoSmithKline, IBM and Nokia join thousands of growing small and medium businesses in officing at Regus. Regus Group facilities spread across a global footprint of 1000 locations in 450 cities and 75 countries.

Regus is on the move again. St. Charles is an interesting choice. It doesn’t seem as if they have any competition in that city, though the other Chicago suburbs do have serviced offices vying for entrepreneurs who need to be close to the Windy City. Regus is really on a roll here. It’s encouraging to see it.

Regus seems to be gaining momentum in the serviced office space. The company seems to be thriving in this economy, placing big bets in strategic locations. St. Charles business owners should be happy. They are getting a chance to save on office rent with a reputable executive office suite company that won’t shut its doors down if things get tight.

The Plaza Building on the Fox River is a prime time location in St. Charles. Regus really picked a winner here for its latest serviced office expansion. I have no doubt that this will fill up quickly. I wonder how many office spaces are available for rent at this facility.

Anybody taking wagers on where Regus will open its next serviced office facility? St. Charles is an ideal location in the Chicago area. It’s close enough to Chicago to drive into meetings, but far enough away to keep your commute times and office rents down. I imagine more entrepreneurs will look to suburban areas for office rentals in this economy.

The article says that St. Charles is undergoing a revitalization. That’s a great time to launch a serviced office facility. Regus can leverage the new foot traffic and interest in the downtown area and introduced businesses there to the concept of executive office suites.

Its interesting how Doughman points out that ’smart companies’ will see the difference with serviced office space savings. It’s subtle, but I picked up on it. It’s like he’s saying “Hint, hint: if you are smart, you’ll save 60 percent on your office rent by coming to Regus.” Who wouldn’t want their business to grow in a secure, cost-effective, accelerated fashion?
