Regus Opens Melbourne Business Lounge
Published October 2nd, 2009 by Jennifer LeClaire
If you are anything like me, you are always-on, always-connected, always-working. Life is on demand and there’s no time to waste. And if you are like me, uncomfortable airport lounges, noisy airport restaurants and cramped cafes – even hotel lobbies – put a cramp in your productivity. I like a nice quiet office space myself – but that’s not always possible.
Regus is setting out to bring relief to the cramping for travelers who fly through Melbourne, Australia. Regus just opened a brand spanking new business lounge in the heart of the Melbourne Central Business District.
Regus’ new Collins Street business lounge – one of more than 1,000 around the globe – serves as a drop in center for business executives. Instead of a noisy, uncomfortable experience, Regus promises a quiet environment and a relaxation area complete with leather chairs, newspapers and WiFi access, and free tea and coffee available to all Regus guests.
But it gets even better. Executives looking to “knuckle down” and get their work done while away from the office can also use the Thinkpods, self-contained work areas with slide-out desks and noise-cancelling headphones. Brilliant!
“We’re delighted to be opening our first business lounge in Melbourne. We recently opened business lounges in Brisbane and Adelaide, and plan to open another one in Sydney this year,” says Ian Wheeler, Country Vice President for Regus Australia and New Zealand. “Regus is focused on providing flexible work solutions and our business lounges across the globe are just one of the ways we can help business travelers work efficiently away from home.”
Regus leads the serviced office market in Australia and New Zealand. Regus has 20 business centers in major metropolitan cities including Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Auckland. Australian and New Zealand clients benefit from access to services ranging from virtual offices, to fully equipped offices, professional meeting rooms, video conferencing studios and business lounges. Regus Business Lounges are available free of charge to all Regus Businessworld members and Regus clients.

Regus is on the move. I think targeting business travelers with these business lounges is a smart thing. I have the same feeling about traveling. I am always looking for a quiet place to work where I can plug in my laptop. Regus business lounges are full of like-minded people. Good move.

Knuckle down. I love it. I agree that Regus offering business centers around the world is a good thing for travelers. I have never heard of a ThinkPod. I wonder if this is something Regus made up or if it’s something more universal? I think the Regus brand resonates well with road warriors because of concepts like these.

I wish they had the Regus business lounges everywhere. It’s much better than the airport clubs because everyone there is working. There are fewer distractions and it’s equipped for travelers. People who fly through Asia should be glad to see this coming their way. I think this is one area where Regus has an advantage over other companies in the executive office suites industry. Combined with the businessworld membership, this works well.

In some ways, this does represent the future of offices. I mean, being able to sit and work in a business lounge, complete with a ThinkPod, in transit anywhere in the world is amazing. These business lounges are definitely a step above what old time travelers are used to. These come with all the bells and whistles you need to be productive.
