Regus Opens 1,001st Serviced Office Space in Beaverton

Regus is on a roll. After announcing new locations in Chicago and Mauritius, the serviced office giant is moving into Beaverton, Ohio. This marks Regus’ 1,1001st executive office space location – and it’s a prime spot for the growing company.

The new Beavercreek center will be located in The Greene Town Center, a 72-acre mixed-use development.  The Greene’s town square setting features pedestrian-friendly streetscapes, open-air gathering spaces, fountains and parks for children, in addition to best of class retail, entertainment and dinning.

“Mixed-use, suburban locales such as Beavercreek and The Greene Town Center are at the forefront of the global workplace revolution.  In just a few years’ time reporting to fixed office locations in established business districts will be the exception, not the norm,” says Regus CEO Mark Dixon.

“We’re experiencing very strong demand from the new centers we’ve opened in the suburbs of other major metropolitan areas such as Dallas, Houston and Milwaukee as companies and individuals alike choose to establish a presence in more residential ‘live, work and play’ settings.”

Beavercreek is a suburb of Dayton, Ohio, located on the eastern side of the metropolitan area. The City contains over 27 square miles with a current estimated population of 40,000. U.S. 35 provides direct expressway access to downtown Dayton and Dayton International Airport from Beavercreek, and I-675 skirts the north and west edge of town providing convenient access to nearby Cincinnati and Columbus.

When Regus chose to locate its 1,001st serviced office facility in Beavercreek, it no doubt looked at the existing industry. Beavercreek is home to research and manufacturing firms engaged in defense technologies, aerospace, automotive components, electronics and other specialized advanced technologies.

“Now, in addition to having a great option that allows them to work closer to home, local businesses and individuals can also establish a professional presence in a Fortune 500, corporate-type setting in one of the most attractive environments in the state,” Beavercreek Mayor Julie Vann. “As the fastest growing suburb of Dayton, Beavercreek is a great fit for Regus. The company’s unique model of providing high-end, turnkey workplace solutions should be well received by local businesses of all sizes.”

With the Beaverton site, Regus is continuing to execute on its strategy to provide clients cost-effective workplace solutions that are located closer to where they live. By placing its centers in suburban locations Regus is aiming to help clients improve their work-life balance, increase productivity, save on fuel costs and reduce carbon emissions.

Another opening? At this rate, Regus will hit the 2,000 serviced office center mark in three more years. While I don’t expect Regus to continue opening executive office suite projects every day, I do expect the company to keep pace this year to open several new facilities a month. Internationally, emerging markets may find value in a Regus operation.

That’s interesting… a suburbs strategy. This fall is in line with something I heard the CEO saying a while back about there being a Regus serviced office on every corner. I usually think of Regus being in downtowns or city centers. Moving into the suburbs is a real service to entrepreneurs who don’t want to drive too far away from home but still want an office space outside the home.

Sounds like a pretty high-tech suburb of Dayton. Lots of aerospace going on there. That means the types of companies that will probably want to us a Regus serviced office space are service firms, like solo law practitioners or accountants or designers. There’s probably a pretty significant service firm base there.

Congratulations to Regus. This really is quite an impressive one-two-three punch over the last few days. It’s great to see the company succeeding in this downturn. I am waiting to see what happens with the serviced office industry after the recession. Will it continue growing or will we see consolidation?
