Regus Moves into North Dallas Area with New Serviced Offices

At a time when many companies are downsizing, the Regus Group is making moves into new markets at breakneck speed. The company’s latest foray into new territory strengthens the leading business center brand in Dallas. The company recently opened business centers in Atlanta and St. Charles, Chicago.

Regus has opened  its first fully-furnished and equipped business center in Allen, Texas, a North Dallas suburb. The new serviced office facility is located on the second floor of 825 Market Street in the Watters Creek Development. There are at least two competitors in that local area.

Regus says it’s responding to the growing demand for cost-effective places to work with flexible terms. This marks the company’s 19th serviced office facility in the Dallas area. What makes Allen so special? It’s strategic location near the Telecom Corridor and booming population. Both factors have helped insulate the city from the economic recession.

What’s more, Allen has attracted corporate headquarters from the high-tech, telecommunications, defense and medical industries. Regus has a reputation for catering to large corporations and growing businesses alike. The headquarters-heavy Allen is in line with Regus’ growth strategy. Smaller companies that service those headquarters can now be close to their recession-resistant clients by choosing a Regus executive office space on Market Street.

Regus Responds to Serviced Office Demand
According to Scott Nelles, Southwest Region Vice President for Regus, companies in the Dallas area and around the country are looking to Regus to help cut costs in order to survive this economic rollercoaster.

“Regus dramatically reduces costs by enabling clients to save up to 60 percent on facilities expenses, which is typically their second-largest fixed line item,” Nelles says. “In addition, since there is no upfront capital expenditure, companies can retain their cash. By leveraging Regus’ ready-to-use workspace in Watters Creek, our clients are empowered with critical tools to help them manage through these uncertain times.”

Nelles went on to say that Regus also reduces risk by providing agreement terms that are flexible. He invites Allen-based companies to imagine the bottom-line impact, which he describes as increased market opportunity and reduced cost structure that results in more money for business reinvestment.

Regus Cites Cost Savings
Regus has been pushing its cost savings message hard in recent weeks. The 60 percent figure seems to be what the brand has settled on. That includes lower office space rentals, as well as videoconferencing studios Regus makes available for face-to-face meetings without travel expenses.

Regus reports a 40 percent increase in videoconference bookings and estimates that meeting via videoconference cuts the average cost of business travel by 75 percent. These are stats videoconferencing vendors love to hear. Videoconferencing tends to get a boost during recessions, and seems poised to make a major run this year.

Regus also has solutions for traveling entrepreneurs and corporate businessmen. The Regus Businessworld membership program aims to help companies save money and explore new market opportunities. Whether a company is seeking to grow its business in Dallas, across the U.S. or internationally, Regus says its membership program offers convenient access to business-ready offices, meeting rooms and lounges for less than $25 per month.

Wow. Regus is really plowing away. They’ve made three new market entrances in less than 30 days. I bet the serviced office providers in those towns are nervous. Hopefully, there will be enough demand for everybody because it’s better for the concept if everybody is winning.

I also noticed Regus is pushing that cost savings message. Regus is reinforcing its position as a leader, not just by its expansion but also by its messaging around the cost savings. The competition should get out there and make some noise before Regus takes over the serviced office industry during this downturn.

Regus is finding the sweet spots in a soft market. Notice the trend in where Regus locates: area that are resisting the recession. Stronger job markets. Area that are near entrepreneurial hubs. Regus’ serviced office facilities are known for high-quality, but it appears at this rate they’ll be the like McDonald’s - one on every Downtown Main Street corner.
