Regus Inks Strategic Alliance with Back Office Support Group

Another week, another Regus strategic alliance. On Monday, the Regus Group announced a new deal with Back of the House (BOTH) that aims to give it serviced office customers the back office and corporate support services they need at a price they can afford.

Beyond all the back-patting the companies offered each other in the press release announcing the deal, there are some potentially interesting synergies in this partnership. Let’s look first at how existing Regus customers can benefit from BOTH.

BOTH targets one of Regus’ key audiences: entrepreneurs and small businesses. BOTH offers a cadre of services that let businesses focus on growth rather than the myriad of back office and tech issues that go along with daily operations.

BOTH can handle everything from billing and collections to taxes and financial reporting, including the day-to-day administration of maintaining project portfolios and compliance. BOTH also offers cloud-based IT infrastructure support, such as e-mail, Microsoft Office tools, archives and Web site hosting. On the HR side, BOTH handles health and wellness benefits, professional liability insurance, and access to individually underwritten health insurance and solo 401(k) retirement options. Regus clients who sign a minimum six month contract with BOTH will receive their first month of service free.

Now, BOTH is also giving Regus access to a potentially new customer base. BOTH clients can tap into Regus office space, meeting rooms and various services at a discount. Regus is handing out a free six-month membership to its Businessworld Gold program. That gives BOTH customers access to more than 1,000 Internet-equipped Regus business lounges in 450 cities around the world.

BOTH customers also get a free month to try out the Regus Virtual Office package. That gives them a prestigious business address, personalized telephone answering services, and a local phone number. Regus is also offering up one-free month on any full-time, fully furnished office.

If you are in the market for back office services, you might want to give BOTH a try. I can’t vouch for whether the company really has “Fortune 500 Support for the Business of One,” but if you are drowning in billing and other back office tasks, check it out and let us know how it works for you.

This actually intrigued me. I went to check out Back of the House for myself. I might even use these services. This is like a one-stop administrative shop. Although this is clearly a marketing ploy to get Regus customers to sign up for their services by offering a free month (I’d rather see a free month and an ongoing discount) I bet some Regus customers will find value in this. For the other side of the coin, I’m not sure of BOTH customers will tap into Regus office space, but they might explore the virtual office space. Overall good deal!

Regus has inked so many of these alliances that they all sort of blur together. But I agree with @Bill. This one stands out. I can definitely see a win-win for both sides. I think Regus is smart to offer the free month of virtual office space. People get hooked on these types of services once they give it a shot. So Regus could pick up quite a lot of entrepreneurs looking for an alternative to traditional office space.
