Regus Gives Away Free Office Space in Chicago

Regus promised to give away free office space in Chicago, and the company made good on that promise last week when it announced the winner of its “Win an Office” Sweepstakes in the Windy City.

Jason Teliszczak, founder of JT Environmental Consulting, took home the prize, giving him the freedom to choose a year’s worth of free, furnished office space in any one of Regus’ 28 locations in the Chicago area.

“Winning this office through Regus will really put a more professional face on the company,” Teliszczak says. “We will no longer need to meet with clients at coffee shops or restaurants. I have been working out of my home office for so long, I am thrilled at the opportunity to bring the company to the next level not only with the more professional image, but also increase our overall productivity.”

It’s not clear why Regus chose this company as the winner, but I like this selection because it isn’t just a company that is trading one office space for another office space in a better location. That would be well and good. But Teliszczak is a good example of the entrepreneur’s struggle: working from home and desperately looking for ways to hold client meetings in a professional atmosphere.

JT Environmental Consulting is in a growing field, and having a proper office space really could help the company win more clients. JT Environmental Consulting helps clients comply and document their green practices, including providing them with the tools to become LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design), ISO, & R2 certified. This type of business is expected to boom in the months and years ahead.

“Regus is excited to be able to help a local small business to grow and succeed in today’s challenging marketplace,” says Cris Gardocki, area director for Regus Chicago. “We have been committed to helping businesses like Jason’s for more than 20 years. We are happy to be able to continue to give back to the Chicago community.”

These sweepstakes are smart business for Regus. They plant positive community relations seeds, for one thing, and it’s likely that JT Environmental Consulting will remain a Regus client for life, or at least the long-term. Teliszczak is certain to be one of Regus’ best word-of-mouth marketers for many years to come. And Regus probably had some empty office space in its Chicago facilities anyway… you do the math.

Nice for Regus to make good on its offer. Of course, we knew they would. What would be really interesting is to follow up with the company that won a year later and see if they have grown, gained new clients, etc. Sort of a case study on how the serviced office space helped them. That might bode well for the use of executive office suites if JT has a good story to tell.

I like JT’s style. You called it right. He is in an industry that’s going to see big growth. A professional office space should help him position his brand for that growth. I think these contests are good for Regus and good for the entire industry because it raises awareness about serviced office space to a broader audience.
