Regus: 35 Percent of Businesses Use Social Media Marketing
Published July 12th, 2010 by Jennifer LeClaire
Looking to get new customers? Many executive office space users are turning to social media marketing. So says a Regus survey. Specifically, 40 percent of companies surveyed said they successfully used social networks to win new business.
“Our global survey has revealed that social networking has finally become a mainstream business tool,” Sande Golgart, vice president for Regus. “Although there is a core group of skeptics globally, who do not believe that social networks will become a significant method of reaching customers and prospects, a significant proportion of firms are devoting real marketing budgets through the medium to acquire new customers and keep existing ones.”
The Regus survey asked business leaders two key questions:
- Have you achieved any customer wins using social networking?
- Do you believe the channel is effective enough to be awarded its own portion of marketing budget?
The social media marketing momentum is clearly building. The same group of companies who see the value in renting serviced office space sees the value in lowering marketing costs by using social media marketing. Regus reports 27 percent of companies surveyed sanctioned funds for social media marketing.
That said, not all executive office suite users are even open to the possibility of social networks as a marketing took. Thirty-four percent are betting social networking will never become a significant method of connecting to customers and prospects. That’s a pretty strong bet.
What about Regus? What is the serviced office space leader doing on the social media marketing front? Well, Regus has several Twitter accounts:
@regusgroup
@regusblog
@regususa
@reguscenters
Regus also has a fan page on Facebook. On Friday, Regus used the Facebook page to promote this post: “We’re so excited to kick off our new Summer promotion! Here’s the deal: sign up for a Regus office in July, and get up to three months FREE!” The post included a link for people looking for special deals on office space.
Of course, we know Regus has a blog. Beyond that, I’m not sure how else Regus is using social media to promote its office space. But that’s a pretty good start!

I like the way you tied it all together. Social media marketing is one of the least expensive ways to market, or it can be if you do it right. It makes sense that customers of serviced office space providers like Regus would also be cost-conscious about their marketing. Social media marketing puts viral power into the hands of even the one-man company.

I thought it was interesting to look at what Regus is doing on social media. It seems they are making good use of their Facebook page, though they only have 100 fans. That really shocked me. I figured the largest executive office suites company in the world would have thousands of followers on Facebook.
