Preferred Offices Maximizes Open Space in Arlington Location

Look out Regus. Preferred Offices is making moves to secure its status as the king of serviced office space in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

In April, we reported Preferred Offices was set to open its ninth location on the 12th floor of 1001 North 19th Street in Rosslyn, Virginia. Now that the serviced office space is open, it’s time to take a closer look at this facility and what makes it stand out.

While each of Preferred Offices‘ properties distinguish themselves in some way, the Rosslyn executive office suites aims to demonstrate that you can find high-quality offices in Virginia without sacrificing proximity to D.C., according to Joe Wallace, CEO of Preferred Group. And not just any offices – offices that are suitable for all types of professionals and small businesses that share the need to be smart and flexible about how they create and use their office rental budget.

“We created Preferred Rosslyn to showcase a state-of-the-art facility that can offer prestige and economic efficiency to any client,” Wallace said, noting the new serviced office center boasts fully-furnished executive office suites, conference and training rooms, state-of-the-art IT infrastructure, and a team of experienced administrators on-site to help clients manage their day-to-day business.

An Arlington County Location
Preferred Offices the first serviced office space provider to open in Rosslyn in more than two decades. That prompted Arlington Chamber of Commerce President Richard Doud to offer the serviced office provider more than the obligatory welcome. Doud cited the diverse Arlington County workforce of more than 200,000 and the innovation that springs from this workforce as an example of the need for flexible office space in Rosslyn.

“Arlington County’s location, educated workforce and inherent transportation advantages will prompt dynamic businesses to seek workplace solutions in Arlington such as what Preferred has unveiled,” Doud said.

“Our 26-acre county is a hub for high-tech startups, government contractors and consulting firms, and the ideal setting for businesses that require easy access to District of Columbia, Northern Virginia, and the Pentagon. Arlington County businesses are proven innovators, and Preferred Offices will be an asset to our business community.”

Maximizing Open Spaces
The new serviced office location, dubbed Preferred Rosslyn, was designed by the Alexandria, Va.-based architectural firm of Rust|Orling Architects. Mark Orling, its principal, sought to create open spaces, mixed with bright, comfortable colors to convey a comfortable work environment.

The serviced office facility offers panoramic views of the Potomac River, historic Key Bridge, and the national monuments. Special interior features include an advanced digital access security system for private offices and a “Smart Board” interactive flat panel display in the center’s training and conference room.

“Our clients want to stay flexible, they want to minimize their long term liabilities, they want to save time and capital, they want to be supported by highly reliable infrastructure and they want a great office,” said Wallace. “That’s what Preferred represents for them: an opportunity to reclaim time, re-purpose capital, manage their risk exposure and come to work every day in a great professional environment where everything is taken care of for them. It’s that simple.”

In recognition of opening its first business office in Arlington, and in keeping with its tradition of commitment to the communities in which it operates, Preferred Offices announced that it has made a charitable contribution to The Reading Connection, an Arlington-based non-profit that encourages reading for at-risk families and their children. The amount was undisclosed.

I think it’s great that Preferred Offices offered a donation to a local charity. In my opinion, we don’t see enough of this in the serviced office industry. I think it should be standard practice. It’s also great publicity and community relations. The executive office suites industry has a great chance to model the way as a good corporate citizen with so many new office spaces opening.

I thought it was interesting that Preferred Offices made mention of the architecture firm and the open spaces. I would love to see some photographs that show this in action. It’s kind of hard to visualize. But it does sound unique so far as serviced office facilities go.

Does abetteroffice.com have a Flickr account? I think it would be really cool to have some sort of link to photos you gather from these serviced office facilities. Then again, I bet a lot of them don’t have photos and that’s why you don’t run them with the stories, right?

abetteroffice.com has like all sorts of social media site stuff. They are leading the charge on the social media front in the executive office suites industry. There are some good videos of serviced office stuff on their YouTube channel.

Maximizing serviced office space. I like the concept. Short on details, but the concept of open spaces in executive office suite facilities is a good one. I can imagine sort like a co-working facility meets serviced office space where there’s a big open communal space in the middle and individual office spaces around the edges.
