IRVINE, CA-As the executive office suites industry continues to evolve to meet the needs of mobile workers, concepts like coworking office space and technologies like video conferencing are coming to the fore.
Maybe that’s why the Office Business Center Association International is changing its name. The OBCAI had decided to shed its original moniker for one that is more in line with the office using times: Global Workspace Association International.
OBCAI members voted unanimously to trade its old name for the new one. The new name will become officially at a public presentation on or by Nov. 1, 2011, according to John Jordan, president of the association of office business centers.
“This is more than just a name change for the Association. Our new name and focus reflects the fact that we represent a growing, dynamic, and progressive industry,” Jordan says. “Demographics, workspace trends, and changing business buying patterns are pointing to exceptional growth opportunities in our industry.
“We look forward to working with our members and friends in the industry to advance workspace-as-a-service. In the coming months, more communication on this transition will follow, and we look forward to working with you as we embark on this change for the association and the industry.”
OBCAI is the international trade association representing office business center owners and operated. OBCAI membership is comprised of business center owners, managers and support staff as well as vendors who service business centers, including brokers, industry consultants, office product and software suppliers, and telecom equipment and service providers.
