Sounds like a really cool place. What I have noticed that’s really interesting is how private office space and coworking is coming together. The culture of coworking, then, remains intact, but there is the private office option for those who really need it. NextSpace really seems to be a special officing environment, from what I understand.

NextSpace is one coworking facility that has used social media to the max. You don’t have to wonder what you are getting at NextSpace because they have so many photos and videos available. If you want to see the private office space, you can see it. If you want to see the common area, you can see it. I think this is really smart because it makes is so convenient for people looking to rent an office in Santa Cruz.

They got me with the free LuLu’s coffee. I wonder if that’s the Santa Cruz version of Starbucks? I had never heard of them. Never heard of NextSpace either. Looks like the local newspaper reporter there really loves the concept of coworking. The paper did several articles about this alternative office space set up featuring NextSpace.

Wow. I was shocked by some of the prices. Its seems like the coworking space itself is pretty cheap. But when you start getting any of the fringe benefits or add ons that go along with it, the office space costs add up pretty quick. It seems like the case with NextSpace is they are serving up an environment, a culture, how much you want to participate in that culture helps dictate price. If you want privacy, you are going to pay for it.

Thanks for the nice write-up Jennifer. We definitely work hard to run NextSpace as a community first and as a facility second. So thanks for taking notice of that. We’re getting ready to celebrate our first anniversary in October and we’re pretty proud (and more than a little humbled) at how far we’ve come in such a short time. Thanks for noticing!
