Learning from Serviced Offices “Down Under”

Serviced offices are catching on all over the world – even Down Under.

Christie Offices, a brand of fully furnished serviced offices and virtual offices in Australia, is offering a laundry list of amenities and locations for its target audience.

What can other executive suite providers – and their clients – learn from what Christie is doing? Plenty. Let’s take a look offering by offering and see how Christie Offices is approaching the concept in its market.

An International Virtual Office
First, there’s Christie Virtual Offices. This option offers entrepreneurs and small business owners a professional office without the costs of physical office space. Christie is marketing its service as away for business owners to enjoy a prestigious office address that enhances their business image to an international presence.

The key word there is international. If you are servicing clients in several nations, then it can make sense to open virtual offices there. This gives your clients a level of comfort with your commitment to the market. It also takes the burden of long distance calls off their shoulders. If you really want to impress a client in Australia, a Christie Office will give you the vehicle to do that.

Need Some Project Space?
Next, Christie Project Space. This option offers secured, flexible project space for entrepreneurs that only need short-term accommodations. But that doesn’t mean it’s only for small projects. Christie has various floor plans to suit various types of projects and even offers catering services.

This is a much-needed amenity that’s sure to be appreciated. It’s easier to stay focused on the task at hand when everyone gathers in a project space rather than a restaurant, coffee shop or even someone’s living room. The catering adds convenience to the mix. It’s a matter of efficiency.

Calling on Conference Centers
Christie also offers Conference Centers in a modern building located in prime Central Business District locations in Australia. This is suitable for large conferences, small meetings, training sessions, seminars, corporate gatherings, board meetings, and other events. Likewise, Christie Meeting Rooms offer first-class meeting facilities for business events and private purposes.

The message I’m getting from Christie Offices is “serviced office flexibility.” But this company doesn’t stop here. Christie also offers what it calls “Day Stay” offices for people who need a private place to conduct business now and again, as well a “Business Club Lounges.”

The Business Club floor has an exclusive lounge attached. Complimentary breakfast and happy hours make the business club lounge an exclusive place for business club guests. Now that’s unique!

This is a neat case study on a forward-thinking serviced office. The executive office suite industry seems to have developed some best practices, but now that the foundation is laid the space is starting to get interesting. We’re seeing innovators emerge with imaginative amenities and value-added services. Christie’s is a great example that we can definitely learn from in the U.S.

Jennifer pointed out that: “The Business Club floor has an exclusive lounge attached. Complimentary breakfast and happy hours make the business club lounge an exclusive place for business club guests.” That is truly unique. I’ve never seen a serviced office — not even in Manhattan or Los Angeles — with this sort of amenity. Has anyone else seen anything like that? Some might say it’s a waste of space that could be rented. But I see it as way for serviced office tenants to network before and after work, with or without clients.

I think the message “serviced office flexibility” is one that would ring especially well in cities like Miami. Take “Miami Business Casual” for example. Folks don’t do the suit and tie thing for business lunches. They wear a more relaxed, you might say, flexible attire. For global cities that do business based on relationships as much as contracts, serviced office center amenities like the club are invaluable.
