Intelligent Office Buys Out Franchisee in Garden City, New York
Published April 28th, 2010 by Jennifer LeClaire
Roger Kahn, a highly visible Intelligent Office franchise operator in Garden City, New York, is shedding the franchise name to go solo.
As part of the decision to sever ties with the franchise system, Kahn changed the name of his serviced office space from Intelligent Office – Garden City, New York to Champion Office Suites. Kahn says he accepted a system-wide offer made by the franchisor to opt out of the franchise system in return for a one-time payment.
“I felt this was an excellent time to take advantage of the offer made by the franchisor to all of the franchisees,” Kahn says. “As the economy begins to grow I will be able to offer services to my clients that may or may not have been acceptable to the franchisor.”
Kahn did not offer examples of what may not have been “acceptable.” But aBetterOffice.com is reaching out to him for more information. aBetterOffice.com also contacted Intelligent Office headquarters, but the company did not respond before deadline.
How will the newly-named Champion Office Suites fare without the backing of a major brand in the executive suites industry? Time will tell, but Kahn has a proven track record for success.
Intelligent Office – Garden City, New York is well-known—and well-respected—in the Long Island business community. The company has made a name for itself for strong customer service. What’s more, Kahn’s serviced office facility has been voted Long Island’s best executive office suite for two years in a row in polls taken by Long Island Business News.
Navigating a brand change is always a challenge, but in a personal business like executive office suites—and with a strong reputation—Kahn seems to have a bright future with Champion Office Suites.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Jennifer, I’d love to see you get the scoop on this one. I immediately wondered why Intelligent Office is doing buyouts of executive suite facilities. I’d love to know why. I’d also love to know if other Intelligent Office franchisees are selling out, and why. Is this some kind of publicity stunt? Are there problems with the company. I can’t wait to find out what you hear from Intelligent Office.

Interesting. I bet others have also been bought out but just didn’t make it so public. Kahn, as you noted, has always been one of the more visible franchisees. He does a great job with publicity in the serviced office space. I remember reading a Q&A you did with him last year, I think. If Kahn can keep that same level of publicity around his new brand name, he should do well.
