Coming Soon: Office Business Center 2009 International Conference

Are you the operator or employee of an office business center? Do you provide services to the industry?

If you answered yes to either of those questions, then you don’t want to miss a golden opportunity to learn new strategies and tactics and network with industry icons at the Office Business Center Association International’s (OBCAI) 2009 Conference. The conference runs from September 24th-27th in San Diego on the edge of spectacular San Diego Bay at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina.

Based on the changes that are occurring in the industry (and the office trends we have been describing recently), it is fitting that this year’s conference tagline is ” OBC 2.0 – Evolve. Thrive.” In line with the theme, OBCAI designed an informative conference website with an ultra-modern design, lots of conference highlights and previews, and links to the association’s Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts so you can keep following the action when the dust settles on the conference room floor.

Carrie Gates, president of the OBCAI and Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Barrister Executive Suites Inc., plays off the tagline succinctly in her conference overview:

“Now is our time, and we need to capitalize on this important moment in our industry’s lifecycle. As the economy struggles to reinvent itself and business begins to recover, we need to position ourselves as a driving force behind a new generation of companies competing in a global marketplace.”

Program Highlights

This year’s program covers a lot of ground with knowledgeable speakers from inside and outside the industry, but a single (and quite unsurprising) thread seems to run through most of the topics: how to stay afloat and even thrive in our tumultuous economy. The highlights include:

  • Improving your lease structure to save
  • Marketing, with particular emphasis on internet marketing and social media topics
  • How to leverage technology to cut costs, and how to use that technology to gain and retain new clients
  • Motivating and retaining employees
  • And of course, a whole lot more

Don’t miss this year’s conference. Beyond all of this, you’ll also get to meet the staff of aBetterOffice.com and tell us about what your company is doing. We’ll see you there.

Sounds like a must-attend for anyone in the serviced office industry for sure. I imagine anyone looking to enter into the executive office suites industry would also do well to attend a conference like this. The OBCAI really seems to have a pulse on the needs of the industry.

I wish I could attend. The OBCAI is a great organization, really advancing the cause of the serviced office industry in the United States. The OBCAI is right on target with this year’s theme. I look forward to reading your reports about what comes out of this conference.

OBC 2.0. I love it. What a great theme for the serviced office industry’s conference. I think conferences are more important than ever in a down economy because this is the time for folks to have a meeting of the minds, share strategies and best practices. The executive office suites industry needs to pull together against the real competition: traditional office space.

I agree. It’s time for the serviced office industry to capitalize on the current market conditions. There’s never been a better time since the 80s, but who in the U.S. was too familiar with executive office suites back then? There is a golden opportunity here, it’s up to the savvy, wise serviced office operators to find a way to grab it.

I just visited the conference web site. That really is cool! It’s simple, clean, offers a compelling value proposition and does a good job of convincing folks in the serviced office industry why they should attend this year’s conference. I look forward to seeing the brainstorming that comes out of this year’s event.
