Office Space Advice

Office space for the mobile professional

Many executive office suite companies are pouring more focus into their virtual office offerings. They are marketing the ability to support a growing mobile professional workforce through advanced telecommunications, a prestigious address with mail receipt and forwarding, plus the ability to use meeting rooms and offices on an occasional basis. However, before you make a decision to sign an agreement with a serviced office, you need to ask yourself the question of whether you need a remote receptionist, or a remote assistant. The answer to this question can lead to a significantly different decision in your virtual office selection.

The nuance difference in the two is that the remote receptionist has a scope of activity limited to answering the phone, forwarding calls, taking messages, call screening, etc. The remote assistant has a wider range of duties, including all the offerings of the remote receptionist, plus whatever other tasks you specify, such as sales order entry, customer service, calendar and event coordination, etc.

Often, executive suite offerings are not geared towards providing the advanced services of the remote assistant. Some of the companies that offer this service are Davincivirtual and Intelligent Office. One enterprising entrepreneur started a number of Intelligent Office franchises in Canada because of the lack of companies up there dedicated to services for the mobile professional.

This is a smart move on the part of executive office suites. The mobile workforce is growing in response to technology and globalization. This is another point in the story about how serviced offices are coming of age.

Armed with remote assistants, the mobile professional can accomplish his goals while on the move, knowing he’s covered on the administrative side without having to weed through virtual assistant resumes and the trial-and-error process that often follows in finding the right one.
