Zultys Launches MXmeeting Conferencing & Collaboration Solution

Zultys is preparing for the opportunity with a new product that combines voice, desktop Web interaction, instant messaging, virtual meeting rooms, online presentations and more.

Dubbed MXmeeting, the tool aims to connect teleworkers, mobile professionals and in-office entrepreneurs alike to employees, customers and vendors anywhere there’s an Internet connection. This competes, in part, with services like GoToMeeting and WebEx. But rather than a subscription service this is a one-time purchase.

Empowering MXmeeting

MXmeeting builds on Zultys’ IP-PBX portfolio, which already supports integrated call handling, voice mail, gateways, presence server, and instant messaging server for up to 10,000 users.

Both PC and Mac client devices are supported. Sorry Linux users. You aren’t on the radar screen with this release.

One of the attractive aspects of MXmeeting is that it scales as you grow. The solution starts with as few as two meeting rooms with 10 concurrent users and grows to as many as 200 meeting rooms with 2,000 concurrent users.

Here’s what the new tool has to offer:

  • Web conferencing technology for sales presentations, product demos, online training, and interactive collaboration
  • Remote Support for remote control of your customers’ PC or Mac desktops, with remote reboot and file transfer
  • Remote Access for access to your office or home computers from anywhere, anytime
  • Web seminars that don’t require any download by your attendees

One attractive aspect of the Web seminars is guaranteed attendance in five seconds with any kind of Internet browser, including iPhone. Based on experiences with some other services, this is an improvement if this claim is true.

Another attractive aspect is that free audio conferencing service is included and the interactions can be recorded for future playback and sharing.

With this solution there’s no IT maintenance is needed. You own it. You control it. Zultys claims that by eliminating expensive audio and web conferencing services, companies can see immediate expense reductions.

That could be an attractive proposition in a down economy, especially for heavy users of virtual office and collaboration technology. But the pricing is not transparent. We’re checking with Zultys to see what the prices are and will report back to you.

I’d like to see the price. This is one of those collaboration and communications tools that could empower the distributed workforce to be more efficient. But I’m not sure how much I’d need to use this in order for it to be more cost-effective than a WebEx.

I’m encouraged to see new virtual office technology tools coming online, though. I too expect to see more innovation on the market.

I always wonder when I see these stories if there is an open source equivalent. Are there open source virtual office technologies? It seems there is open source or free software for everything else. Of course, learning to use it is another story.

Zultys has some promising features with its service and even though I hadn’t heard of them before the company seems to have a solid line up of collaboration and communications tools.

Let us know when you get the pricing!

Here’s what stood out to me… “Web seminars is guaranteed attendance in five seconds with any kind of Internet browser, including iPhone.”

If this is true, this is a big improvement from what I’ve experienced with virtual collaboration tools. I’ve had inconsistent experiences with the various tools out here depending on what browser I use to access the web-based conferencing.

I think the audio recording aspect of this virtual office technology is really great. I recently had need to record telephone conversations for conference calls and it was a real hassle trying to get a set up that worked.

Zultys seems to offer a nice array of virtual office technologies. I’d still like to see the price on this to compare.

I got the word on the pricing for the Zultys MXmeeting Conferencing & Collaboration Solution.

A fellow named Steve Morrison, vice president of product management, responded to the request.

The pricing changes based on the model. For example, the M200 model offers up to four meeting rooms with 20 concurrent users with a price tag of $1,195.

The M500 maxes out at 20 meeting rooms with 100 concurrent users.

I can see how this would be a good value over time, especially for heavy users.
