Regus Inks Strategic Alliance with Train4U

The Regus Group is making new friends. In an aggressive strategy to form strategic alliances with companies that compliment its alternative office space mission, Regus just inked a deal with Train4U to offer its clients a 20 percent discount on tailored training courses and coaching programs.

“Train4U’s more than 150 customized training programs are designed to help organizations and individuals develop the skills, knowledge and abilities needed to support their business strategies and maintain their competitive advantage – now and in the future,” says Michael Haas, senior director of partnerships for Regus Group Americas. “Now our clients can receive great discounts on any Train4U program and have their courses hosted at more than 1,000 Regus locations worldwide – so in addition to cost-savings this new alliance also offers them convenience.”

Train4U has spent over 10 years building a network of top trainers with NLP Accreditations and EIC coaches. Train4u business coaches will develop an individually tailored program for Regus clients that take advantage of the offer. Custom programs include a combination of face-to-face coaching/training, telephone coaching and e-coaching.Train4u also offers Speed Learning, which uses the latest accelerated learning techniques to condense key themes into 90-minute sessions. Train4u’s course titles focus on issues in customer care, management training, personal development and sales and marketing.

The effects of a global recession and a rapidly changing workplace are creating anxiety among individuals who are apprehensive that their skills might not be adequate to help them find work and compete in a global market, according to a recent workplace survey from Kelly Services.

Kelly finds that more than 80 percent of individuals surveyed are concerned that their current skill levels will not sustain them for more than five years. Almost half of the respondents say training currently provided by employers is not sufficient to enable them to upgrade their skills and advance their careers. The findings are part of the Kelly Global Workforce Index, which obtained the views of approximately 100,000 people in 34 countries covering North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific.

“Train4U is pleased to facilitate learning solutions throughout Regus centers worldwide, offering their client base exceptionally high levels of training and coaching services. Our objective is to offer Regus clients great value with measureable results,” says Di McLanachan, head of Corporate Training for Train4U. “We believe that cost-effective, tailored skills and management training along with proven coaching programs that clients can immediately put into practice in the workplace are the way forward for businesses.”

That’s interesting research from Kelly Services. Sort of gives Regus a good reason to align with Train4U. It looks like this is a European deal, though, and that we won’t benefit from it in the U.S. I think they do have e-mail coaching, though, so maybe that’s convenient for mobile workers and road warriors. Regus just keeps moving to make its office space more valuable.

Looks like Train4u might get the better end of this deal. It’s just a perk for Regus members, but it’s actual revenue for the training company. I’ll take that kind of alliance any day. I think it’s a nice value add that Train4u will do the training at a Regus business center. They’ll come to your office space. Sort of a nice tie in.

I bet Regus is getting a cut of whatever this training company brings in. Some sort of revenue sharing agreement. Regus is a little too up on the concept without any clear benefit for its own brand for there not to be some money changing hands here. There has to be some angle. This isn’t even though the businessworld club, like most of Regus’ recent alliances.

I agree that training is vital, but most companies probably don’t want to pay for it in a down economy. I think that’s the wrong tactic because training can actually give your company a major competitive advantage. But when it comes down to training your employees or keeping your employees, I guess it’s not much of a choice there. Regus and Train4u may be positioning themselves for the recovery. Having training at your Regus office space certainly is convenient.
