The Concierge Level, in Chattanooga, TN is currently an executive office center but is looking to dovetail into coworking to reach this group of freelancers, work-from-homers, sales people, or anyone else in our area who works from home but would like to have some community. We're still in the planning phase, but please get in touch and let us know if you're interested and what you would like to see in a coworking space. Coffee service? Wi-Fi? Fax? Printers? www.theconciergelevel.com / 423.266.6388

Coworking is a great advancement as more people are working as 1099s, which are not always tied to an office as regular employees. What I think is also helping this trend take off: virtual technologies. Phone systems such as Gotvmail can tie workers from all over into a single point of contact. Virtual technologies have been around for some time, they're now more ubiquitous and affordable.

Marcus - Well, one of the reasons I'm impressed with their organization is that they have created a wiki with a list and a google map of all known coworking office space. You can visit it here http://coworking.pbwiki.com/.

Interesting. I had never heard of coworking before now. What a novel concept. It figures it would be in New York City. I wonder if there are coworking groups in other major cities.

In a way, this is sort of a spin on serviced offices in that it's a community of workers that come together under one roof. Instead of several companies on a floor, you have several workers in an office.
