Why “aBetterOffice”?
I worked at a large serviced office company called Office Suites PLUS, where I learned there was a diverse set of office needs with the changes that are taking place in today’s marketplace. I never imagined the variety of ways that people worked until I spoke directly to clients. And one of the key problems that the serviced office industry has is awareness of its services. I saw a need for an authoritative source of information for seekers of alternative office space – whether it’s serviced offices, co-working space, shared space or even virtual offices – that people could come to for advice and information.
There are few online resources that offer seekers of alternative office space more than a directory or standard corporate marketing pitches about executive suites or virtual services. We believe that our advice, videos and reviews will help people make more informed decisions. It will help them find a better office, and not just any office.
Why are there so many names for serviced offices?
In the US, serviced office space goes by many names: executive suites, executive offices, office suites and office business centers. The serviced office moniker is mostly used in the UK. However, we use it quite often on aBetterOffice because we believe it is the best description of the service, and is the only one that is unique in its meaning. Executive suite also refers to large hotel rooms; executive offices refers to the presidents and governor’s offices; office suites refers to office productivity software packages and business centers refers to hotel and airport areas dedicated to business services such as printing, copying and faxing.
But to answer the question, we don’t know. We’d like it if everyone just called it a “serviced office”. It’s clear and descriptive. That’s how we’ll refer to it on this website quite often.
What is a virtual office?
This means many things, but in our industry it refers to a set of services that offer businesses a prestigious street address and phone number with a friendly receptionist without the cost of a traditional office lease. There are many types of packages depending on business needs. We will cover the gamut with reviews and news about virtual services and technologies.
Do serviced offices provide meeting room services, and if so, why should I use them?
Most executive suites have various size meeting rooms and many even have large training or conference rooms available for both clients and non-clients. There are many reasons that using serviced office meeting rooms is convenient, but the main differentiator over hotel or similar alternatives is price. In general, serviced offices offer a 20-50% lower price.
