And apparently OpenDesks is pretty good at what it does. The online network just added its 1000th location and set the stage for even more searches with a brand spanking new Android app. The new app adds value for consumers and the workspaces for which they are searching.

OpenDesks already has an iPhone app, which was released in Oct. 2011. With a rising mobile workforce, the future looks bright for OpenDesks.

Indeed, the mobile workforce is expected to grow by 20 percent by 2013, according to IDC.  In the United States alone that means nearly 120 million workers, which includes a range of professions from software developers to lawyers. As OpenDesks sees it, mobile workers have been largely underserved—and this company is helping to change that.

Trada just announced that it’s expanded CodeSpace to make more room for freelance graphic designers. Now, Boulder’s creative types have a free location to work without fighting for tables in coffee shops. CodeSpace is always free and offers three private co-working spaces and shared tables where anyone can work.

“Boulder has a high concentration of talented designers who are doing amazing work,” says Niel Robertson, founder and CEO of Trada. “I’ve lived in San Francisco, Boston, and many other cities, but Boulder is a community that helps each other. We have this invaluable resource of designers in Boulder, and inviting them into CodeSpace was a logical extension for the space.”

Trada created CodeSpace to give developers in Boulder a place to collaborate and get focused work done in an environment that had everything they needed. The coworking space offers white boards, coffee, snacks, Wi-Fi and even foosball—all completely free.

Why did Trade decide to open up to designers? Well, the decision came after the early success of Trada’s Facebook advertising marketplace. Trade suddenly realized there was a strong need to offer coworking space to graphic designers.

Trada’s Facebook ads marketplace includes a creative marketplace that gives  graphic designers an opportunity to generate ad images for Facebook campaigns running in the Trada marketplace. Designers win producing earnings on a performance-based royalty for every click or conversion generated by the ad.

It’s not difficult to see why Trada is one of Boulder’s fastest growing startups. Supporting the tech and freelance community in any city will certainly win attention—and Codespace is just one example of the company’s dedication to community outreach.

The Executive Office Center at Fresh Meadows is expanding its operations to serve countries in Europe and Asia seeking market penetration in Queens, New York. It’s the latest growth strategy of the fast-growth serviced office space.

Jack Blumner, the Executive Office Center at Fresh Meadows’ executive director, says he decided to reach overseas because of the ethnic diversity of Queen’s population. Executive Office Center has done well serving the New York City borough of Queens with virtual office services and furnished office space, particularly targeting law firms and real estate agents.

“Queens is the most diverse place in the world,” says Blumner. “Nearly half of its 2.3 million residents were born outside the United States, with sizeable populations of Spanish, Chinese, Koreans, Indians, Pakistanis, Greeks and Filipinos.”

Indeed, according to the New York State Comptroller, 138 different languages are spoken in the borough of Queens. People from more than 100 different countries live and work in Queens.

“I’m always amazed by the number of visitors to our website from different countries every month,” says Blumner. “So far this month, people in 42 different countries have looked at our Web site. This leads me to believe that there is a great deal of interest in the Queens marketplace.”

As Blumner sees it, price is one compelling factor that will attract European and Asian companies to his serviced office space and virtual offices. Companies can open a branch office in Queens for as little as $39 a month. The Executive Office Center already has more than 100 tenants and virtual tenants to prove its model works.

“That’s why I believe that the Executive Office Center would be of interest to companies in other countries such as China, Korea, Israel, India, Pakistan, etc. who would like to establish a branch office in New York at minimal cost,” Blumner says. “Queens is also a natural location for foreign businesses because of its close proximity to JFK International Airport.”

The 2012 roadmap is dubbed Think Big Nation, an umbrella, of sorts that covers the firm’s recent efforts to challenge the way entrepreneurship works and how successful startups are formed. Call it a “not only for profit” model that aims to create more successful startups.

As part of Think Big Nation, we’ll see the expansion of the Think Big Conference, the development of Think Big’s first accelerator class, the beginning of investment in early stage startups and the a second coworking office space in Kansas City.

“We are excited to launch Think Big Nation and create a nationwide network that connects entrepreneurs, ideas, innovation, opportunities, services and capital,” Sih says. “We will continue to build out our Think Big Network Partner platform by finding the best partners possible nationwide.”

Think Big Partners and Five Elms Capital will open a second coworking space in Kansas City in hopes of facilitating growth of entrepreneurship there. The coworking space will open in the fall of 2012 in Prairie Village and go by the name KCCowork.

But that’s this fall. This spring, Think Big Partners will select candidates from The Gigabit Challenge contestants and other startups in the Midwest to participate in its first accelerator class. These companies will receive one-on-one mentoring and pitch coaching from Think Big Partners that will prepare them for the Flyover Fieldtrip, a trip to Silicon Valley to meet with Bay-area investors and funders.

Finally, Think Big Partners announced that they would begin investing in technology-focused, early-stage startups. The model has been put in place to better facilitate the growth of entrepreneurship in the Midwest and across the country and to make capital more accessible to entrepreneurs involved in Think Big initiatives.
